IT BEGAN BACK IN 1980
As early as 1980 or 1981, a group of women (friends) began meeting in their homes to "network". They had heard about the concept of networking and other network organizations and recognized a need for it in Saskatoon. They called themselves the "Saskatoon Women's Network".
Since the group was so small, it was decided the newly forming 'Saskatoon Women's Network' would operate as a quasi-university organization, and a coordinator was chosen in the year of 1982.
In late 1983, the members decided it was time to move out of the university and become self-sufficient. In early 1984, a constitution was drafted by a core group of members and the first official president was elected. Most of these people are still members today. From there on, the group has operated basically as it does today and has continued to expand its membership.
Besides growth in numbers, the network has provided members with the opportunity to grow personally and meet many new contacts. Members have participated in a variety of exciting activities over the years including trade shows, network conferences, vacation dinners, barbecues, parties and regular meetings.
